Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King Review

A Final Fantasy game that will make you wish you were playing Final Fantasy.

____Monday’s North American WiiWare launch managed to completely overshadow the launch of the service in its native country of Japan. With a game like Lost Winds launching with the service in the west, gamers had a lot to be happy about. But what about that other game, with the really big franchise backing it… what was that again? Oh yeah, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles; I almost forgot about you.

____In all seriousness though, I really did completely forget about FFCC:MLK, I was just too attached to Lost Winds, beating it twice before I finally gave FFCC a chance. All that changed pretty quickly when I finally got a chance to play it though, because I can’t put it down now. Make the jump to find out more. Continue reading

Man We Had a Great Day!

Posted in Site Info on May 14, 2008 by gamewhisperer

It seems my Lost Winds review got pretty popular last night, because we had the best day traffic wise since the launch of the site. I just wanted to thank everybody that tuned in last night and today to look at the review, for helping in that accomplishment. Unfortunately no official update tonight, I just got off work (I went there at 9 a.m. and left just about an hour ago at 11 p.m.) so I’m a little to wiped, but I hope you’ll swing by tomorrow night, I’m going to do something a little more old school.

And on the topic of how well the review did yesterday, I’ve decided to try and do at least one review a week now. It seems everybody likes them and I like to write them so it’s a win win situation.

I hope everyone noticed that in commemoration of Lost Winds I added the lovable hero Toku to the banner, I think he makes a nice addition. Anyways I’ll catch up with all of you tomorrow.

Till Then,

Does Frontier Developments WiiWare platformer meet expectations, or does it blow hard?

WiiWare is finally here Wii owners and from the look of things it may be off to a great start. Today’s WiiWare launch in NA brought with it several promising titles like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Defend your Castle but what I was looking forward to the most was a quaint little platformer called Lost Winds. Read on to find out my verdict. Continue reading

What a Nightmare Weekend!

Technical problems annoy Baby Bowser and the Game Whisperer

Well to say that this weekend was a total bust for me would be a terrible understatement. I was really excited about getting my first weekend update up (I’ve been working on it for about a month) but it seems things didn’t want to work out. WordPress was apparently down on Saturday so I couldn’t get in to keep working on it and then yesterday some wicked storms cut through the mid-Atlantic (I live in Maryland) and completely blew out my power all yesterday. Go figure the one time I write an entry in wordpress instead of google docs. But oh well, no use crying over spilled milk. I’ll just have to save my post for next weekend, I unfortunately don’t have much time during the week to work on it.

On a bit of good news though I will have the Lost Winds review, as I promised on Friday, up tonight. So far I am having a blast with the game and initial impressions are very good. You’ll have to tune in later tonight to find out my verdict though.

WiiWare

Nintendo gets ready to unleash its downloadable games service, is your fridge ready?

In just a couple of days Nintendo will finally release its long awaited addition to the Wii Shop channel, it’s called WiiWare. WiiWare is a downloadable games service which provides games made specifically for the Wii system, unlike the already established “Virtual Console” which offers games from classic consoles instead. With the launch of WiiWare Nintendo seems to be trying to change the tides of the downloadable game market as many independent developers have come out to sing the praises of the service in comparison to competitors offerings like “Xbox live Arcade” (XBLA) or the “Playstation Network Store”. This seems to be a direct result of Nintendo trying to make it as easy as possible for small developers to get a chance to put their game on the service.

Posted in Wii with tags , , on May 8, 2008 by gamewhisperer

*Updated

Well I was quite excited about being able to do an easy “impressions” post today but it appears the gaming gods didn’t like that idea; either that or Nintendo is just screwing with me. You see I was really excited to hear about the launch of the Wii’s “Nintendo Channel” today and I couldn’t wait to get home from work, but alas I’ve yet to try the Nintendo Channel; however I assure you it is not do to a lack of trying. Read on to find out more. Continue reading
