Game Whispering:Nintendo’s E3 press conference

Posted in Wii with tags , on July 21, 2008 by gamewhisperer

____ So by this point you’ve probably already read just about every game journalist on the webs E3 press conference impressions, so I’m probably a little late on this but I like to take my time on these things. Nintendo had an interesting showing at E3 this year to say the least — underwhelming may be a better term. Despite announcing two new peripherals which will ultimately give hardcore Wii gamers some of the solutions they have wanted since the systems launch, Nintendo still seemed to show a complete lack of an awareness to their hardcore crowd. Read on to see how I break it down. Read more »

Two Classic Game Franchises Finally Make Their Return to Nintendo Home Consoles

Posted in Wii with tags , , on June 26, 2008 by gamewhisperer

Castlevania and Mega Man coming to Nintendo’s little white box; one returning to form and the other…err…. not so much.

____Well it’s official, Nintendo Power has just confirmed that the recently discovered Mega Man 9 is indeed coming to Wii as a WiiWare download. What’s even better; the game is going to rock NES-esque graphics in the ultimate return to form for the long running series.

____Needless to say I could not be more psyched. I am not only a huge Mega Man fan, I am also someone who feels that the Blue Bomber was in serious need of a makeover and just like what all those flashy makeover shows on TV do to aging women, Capcom simply made Mega Man look like it’s younger self. This officially puts Capcom in the spot of my favorite 3rd party developer on Wii — as if Zack & Wiki wasn’t enough.

Tips for the Wii gamer on a budget

____So just about all of us are a little short for cash lately. With gas being over 4 bucks a gallon and the cost of pretty much everything going up, what’s the budget cautious gamer to do? Buy cheap Wii games, that’s what. The good thing, there are a lot of great Wii games out there that won’t cost you to much coin — primarily because they sold about 10 copies. Metroid on the big screen With Michael Bay Producing?

Posted in Wii with tags , on June 5, 2008 by gamewhisperer

Probably not, but lets speculate just for the fun of it

Will we ever see Samus on the big screen? Lets hope

____As many die hard Metroid fans have probably heard, the rights to a Metroid feature film have been floating around for years. It seems reasonable enough, Metroid is a popular game franchise which features lots of high tech gadgets and creepy alien worlds, you know the kind of things that tend to sell tickets. But could a movie based off a game which relies on very little dialogs really be any good? Personally I think the answer is a resounding yes, but I have a feeling production companies being pitched the idea would be a bit more skeptical. Make the jump to get my opinion. Read more »

So Technology Hates Me

Posted in Site Info on May 27, 2008 by gamewhisperer

*Another Update: Good news everybody I’m back up and going. I’ve got a new computer and everything so we should be good from here on out. Check back in tomorrow night for a long awaited update, I will finally post my thoughts on the rumored Metroid movie and I may even have a review ready, I hope you check back in.

*Update: Well things haven’t gone quite as I planned, I can’t get the article I typed on my iPod to post through it, though this update seems to be working just fine… Maybe it has to do with the length of the post, I’m not sure. So it seems I’m going to be waiting a little longer to really get anymore posts coming, I’ve got a new computer on the way so, whenever it arrives I’ll be back up and going.

____I’ve had some unfortunate major meltdowns with my laptop lately so updates are going to be a little scarce for the next couple weeks. As of right now I’m typing this with my thumbs on my iPod… not exactly the most comfortable way to write, I must say. I managed to type out a whole post though so check in tonight when I weigh in on the rumors that Michael Bay has been selected as the producer of the nearly forgotten Metroid Movie.

One thing is for sure with Banjo-threeie… it’s going to be different… very different. Make the jump to find out more. Read more »

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts talk tonight!

____Just wanted to let anyone who’s been reading know that I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth. I know it has been a few days since the last post but don’t worry I’m going to get things up and running again starting tonight, since my semester at school is finally over. I had a ton of finals to take care of, as well as wrapping up an internship which required a 10 page paper… so writing wasn’t exactly at the top of my “want to do” list. But if your still listening check back toninght, I will weigh in on the new style of Banjo-Kazooie that was revealed last week. Do I like it? Do I hate it, check back later tonight to find out.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King Review

Posted in Review, Wii with tags , , , , on May 15, 2008 by gamewhisperer

A Final Fantasy game that will make you wish you were playing Final Fantasy.

____Monday’s North American WiiWare launch managed to completely overshadow the launch of the service in its native country of Japan. With a game like Lost Winds launching with the service in the west, gamers had a lot to be happy about. But what about that other game, with the really big franchise backing it… what was that again? Oh yeah, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles; I almost forgot about you.

____In all seriousness though, I really did completely forget about FFCC:MLK, I was just too attached to Lost Winds, beating it twice before I finally gave FFCC a chance. All that changed pretty quickly when I finally got a chance to play it though, because I can’t put it down now. Make the jump to find out more. Read more »

Man We Had a Great Day!

Posted in Site Info on May 14, 2008 by gamewhisperer

It seems my Lost Winds review got pretty popular last night, because we had the best day traffic wise since the launch of the site. I just wanted to thank everybody that tuned in last night and today to look at the review, for helping in that accomplishment. Unfortunately no official update tonight, I just got off work (I went there at 9 a.m. and left just about an hour ago at 11 p.m.) so I’m a little to wiped, but I hope you’ll swing by tomorrow night, I’m going to do something a little more old school.

And on the topic of how well the review did yesterday, I’ve decided to try and do at least one review a week now. It seems everybody likes them and I like to write them so it’s a win win situation.

I hope everyone noticed that in commemoration of Lost Winds I added the lovable hero Toku to the banner, I think he makes a nice addition. Anyways I’ll catch up with all of you tomorrow.

Till Then,

The Game Whisperer
